The Chair (PP503).
Hans Wegner, Denmark 1950.
FRAME: Ash, oak or cherry wood.
SEAT: Upholstered with fabric or leather of choice.
The Chair, which Wegner referred to as 'The Round One' with his usual modesty, is one of the most famous Danish pieces of furniture as it marked the beginning of Danish design's great international breakthrough. The Chair rose to fame when used in the first ever televised election debate in 1960 between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy. Today the round chair is known simply as "The Chair".
