The original Lovikka mitten is said to have come about by a lucky mistake in 1892, when Erika Aittamaa, washed and brushed a pair of discarded mittens that was returned to her. The birthplace of these, now famous mittens was Lovikka, a small swedish village 100 km north of the Polar circle.
