Alvar Aalto invented a bending technique for the legs involving cutting a fan pattern in a piece of solid birchwood, inserting thin pieces of plywood and glue into the grooves and bending the legs into shape while applying heat resulting in a very strong structure. Comes unassembled in flat-pack.
